October 17 - 19, 2026

That's Friday, October 17th through Monday, October 19th.

That's the weekend after Columbus Day weekend. It will be the 56th reunion of the Manchester High School Class of 1970. Since we've done this before we'll keep it mostly the same. We're always open to make improvements. Send us your suggestions!

Here's where we're at:

  1. BOOKED: Friday night informal get together. Elicit Brewing on Adams Street in Manchester.
  2. IN PLANNING: Saturday morning continental breakfast in the MHS cafeteria with a tour of the school. The tour is confirmed. Waiting to learn about the availability of the cafeteria. They won't know until the school year begins.
  3. MAYBE: MHS Football game. It depends on their schedule.
  4. IN PLANNING: Saturday afternoon activities include golf, an 8-ball pool tournament, and a hike up Case Mountain. We'll do something!
  5. IN PLANNING: Saturday night dinner with dancing at the Manchester Country Club.
  6. ON YOUR OWN: Sunday morning breakfast club. Get togethers at any of the local breakfast joints. We'll provide a platform to organize this.
  7. A RANDOM IDEA: Sunday morning corn maze in Vernon.
  8. MAYBE: Sunday afternoon visit to a couple of Manchester's historic sites. We'll have to see if anything special is on the calendar at the Manchester Historical Society.
  9. BOOKED: Sunday night at Elicit Brewing. We have their private room known as the Media Room. We'll socialize, watch football, have something to eat, and perhaps some music.
  10. A RANDOM IDEA: Monday morning, breakfast somewhere prior to a bike ride to Bolton Notch along the rail trail.
  11. IN PLANNING: Monday morning. Bicyle ride along the Hop River Rail Trail. From Manchester out to Bolton Notch and back.
  12. IN PLANNING: Monday afternoon, lunch at Shady Glen. Say goodbyes if you haven't already.

We want to make this a worthwhile trip for anyone who wants to enjoy the memories of a lifetime and the people who are a part of it. If you are willing to take the time and go to the expense to make the trip from wherever you are then we want to make it worth your effort. If you haven't seen a New England fall foliage in a while you sure can at this time. That's why we chose this weekend. Enjoy it. The photo to the right is a reminder. Yes, we will hold another reunion. Until then you're on your own. Stay healthy, live well. Eat plenty of greens, vegetables, whole grains, fish, fruit, legumes, breans, nuts, and olive oil. Exercise, keep your spirits up, and we'll see you again.

The Manchester Historical Society has coverted many years of published Somanhis yearbooks to pdf files. This is a very large job. Many thanks to them! You can access them online and download them to your computer.

The earliest is 1918 and the lastest is 1986. There are some missing years in the sequence.

About Music and Playlists at the 51st reunion.

1960's Playlist
At our 45th reunion we were treated to music provided by a band comprised of classmates. It was great! For our 51st we'd like to allow the band members to socialize a little more. They worked hard rehearsing and spent most of their time performing. We are going with a new plan for this reunion. The band will provide a short set of music but most of the night the music will be playlists on a mobile device provided by classmates. Here's our thinking.

  • Plan A: We thought of hiring a band but we are concerned about sound volume. We don't want to have music so loud you can't have a conversation.
  • Plan B: We considered a DJ but the same question of volume came up plus we were concerned about song selection.
  • Plac C: The "class" band plays a short set with the rest of the night's music coming from playlists on mobile devices where we can control the sound volume.

So we decided on Plan C. We invite any classmate who is interested to prepare and submit a 45 minute playlist for consideration. Put together a playlist of your choosing. Perhaps work around these genres:

  • Rock
  • Psychedelic
  • Motown
  • Pop/Top 40
  • Blues
  • British Invasion

More information on how to submit your list will be forthcoming. If you are anxious to share "your" music reach out to us. Use the contact form of the suggestion form. We'll get in touch. Have fun with it!

Bounced Email Addresses and Unopened Email Newsletters

Last Updated: 8/10/2021 10:00PM

We would like to get this information corrected. With many classmates retiring their email is also changing.

Classmates listed here had the recent email newsletter "hard" bounce due to a bad email. That means there's no such email address.

Jerry Katona

Sharon Starrett Holmes

Classmates listed here had the recent email newsletter "soft" bounce due to any number of reasons. That means there's an email address but the quota may be full or it's no longer active.

Donna Sipala Poirier

The following classmates received the email newsletter but did not open it. It could have gotten filed as spam perhaps? Or maybe it was just not read?

Ten Ten Twenty Twenty

Ten Nine Twenty Twentyone

That's Friday, October 8th through Monday, October 11th.

That's the weekend for the 50th/51st reunion of the Manchester High School Class of 1970. Since we've done this before we'll keep it mostly the same. We're always open to make improvements. Send us your suggestions!

Here's where we're at:

  1. BOOKED: Friday night informal get together. Shea's American Bar & Grill worked good last time, we'll try to repeat that.
  2. HALF BOOKED: Saturday morning continental breakfast in the MHS cafeteria with a tour of the school. The tour is confirmed. Waiting to learn about the availability of the cafeteria. That will take time.
  3. HALF BAKED: MHS Football game. It depends on their schedule.
  4. HALF THERE: Saturday afternoon activities include golf, an 8-ball pool tournament, and a hike up Case Mountain. We'll do something!
  5. BOOKED: Saturday night dinner with dancing at the Manchester Country Club.

  7. Under consideration: Sunday morning corn maze in Vernon.
  8. Under consideration: Sunday afternoon visit to a couple of Manchester's historic sites. We'll have to see if anything special is on the calendar.
  9. Under consideration: Sunday night, meet somewhere for dinner, football, and socializing. Adam's Mill has closed.
  10. Tentatively planned: Monday morning, breakfast somewhere and a bike ride to Bolton Notch along the rail trail.
  11. Tentatively planned: Monday afternoon, lunch at Shady Glen. Say goodbyes if you haven't already.

We want to make this a worthwhile trip for anyone who wants to enjoy the memories of a lifetime and the people who are a part of it. If you are willing to take the time and go to the expense to make the trip from wherever you are then we want to welcome you. If you are having problems with getting PayPal to accept your credit card here are two reasons why that might be happening:

  1. Your phone number or address has changed and does not match what the card says it should be. Maybe you moved or got a new phone number?
  2. You are using a credit card in the debit card tab. This is where PayPal is a bit tricky. Take a look at the image below. There are 3 tabs: Debit or Credit Card, Prepaid Gift Card, and PayPal Credit Special Offer. The real problem is that these don't always appear the same! PayPal will mix these up and sometimes it's confusing. Sometimes Debit and Credit Card are on different tabs! The important thing to know is that you need to be on the Credit Card tab if paying by credit card.

Click the "Checkout" button on the order page and you should see the image below.

The committee is hosting a meet and greet at Shea’s Friday evening, as you all should know by now.  That said, be aware that it is bar food.  Appetizers, burgers, sandwiches.  For those of you who want a more substantial dinner, or are looking for somewhere to eat on another day for lunch or dinner, here’s a list of suggestions.  Of course, you can also find many chain restaurants locally, but I would suggest supporting your small business people, and it’s my list.

  • Bui Vietnamese - I haven’t been but my son raves about it.
  • Lucky Taco Restaurant and Cantina (not a Mexican restaurant), think Kung Pau taco or a Thai shrimp burrito, among many other choices, awesome selection of craft beers.  Warning, don’t ask for a Bud Light, you might get laughed at. - Main St. in the old Brass Key- my son is the manager.  If you see a guy with a fully committed beard, say hi.  His name is Mark.
  • Mulberry Pizza - Main St. - I haven’t been but it comes highly recommended.
  • Suso’s Latin Basket - East Middle Turnpike - No bar, but you can bring in beer or wine (package store next door)  small, don’t be in a rush. Owner is awesome.  Often comes out to talk.  Food is amazing and very, very affordable.  I think the last time I was there I paid $12 for pernil, a Puerto Rican pork roast with rice and beans.  Don’t pass on the roasted red peppers stuffed with mushroom risotto as an appetizer (need to share).
  • Sukhothai - Main St. - Good Thai food.  Probably not what Dana Wilk is eating (he just moved to Thailand), but good.
  • CW’s Chops and Catch - Hartford Road, owned by MHS alum Corey Wry.  He also owns Pastrami on Wry and a burger place, Catsup and Mustard, on Main St., which has been featured on Diners, Drive-ins and Dives.  He’s the real deal.
  • Stone and Paddle, mostly pizza and salads - West Middle Turnpike.
  • Elmo’s Dockside - Hartford Turnpike, down the street from Baymont.  Good seafood restaurant.
  • Pepe’s - 300 West Middle Turnpike.  John Odell says it’s great Italian food with wonderful pizza.
